The Black Sheep are Ciaran Murtagh & Andrew Barnett Jones, multi-award-winning writers, head writers, script editors and series developers on a whole host of children’s features, television shows, podcasts, games and commercials.

 

Together they have written hundreds of episodes of shows enjoyed by millions of children around the world.

 

Equally at home writing individual episodes, assembling and overseeing writing teams and developing dynamic characters and rich, deep worlds for new properties, Ciaran and Andrew are master storytellers who bring heart, humour and passion to everything they do.

The Black Sheep write for The Beano
Earlier this year, Andrew and Ciaran were approached by Tiger Aspect to help bring Mr Bean to The Beano. They helped with the stories, scripts and other bits and pieces, and together with the team at The Beano and Tiger Aspect the copies have started to hit the shelves. Find their work on your local shelves for the next few weeks.

Familia Torres launches in Chile
Andrew and Ciaran were thrilled to work on the new advertising campaign for Entel in Chile. They helped develop the family and the situations they find themselves in. With 1.2 million people watching on YouTube in the first four days, it looks like Chile is ready to fall for Familia Torres.

Numberblocks Series 9: The Rise of Infinaughty!
We’re back in Numberland! The Black Sheep returned as head writers for Numberblocks Series 9: The Rise of Infinaughty, writing every episode of this five-part adventure. Building a continuing story across all five episodes has been a real treat! Huge congratulations to the brilliant teams at Blue Zoo and Blocks Universe, and the cast and crew who brought it all to life.

Merregnon: Heart of Ice out on vinyl
Andrew and Ciaran were thrilled to help write the narration for a new symphonic fairytale by legendary gaming composer Nobuo Uematsu of Final Fantasy fame. Recorded at Abbey Road by the London Symphony Orchestra, our words have been narrated by Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander and the final result will be out on Decca Records in June. For friends in France, the symphony is being performed at the Philarmonie de Paris on the 25th June. Listen below.

Sam & Watson picked up by France Television
Thrilled that Sam & Watson have been given a development deal by France Television. This follows a successful MIFA pitch in Annecy where the show won the Titrafilm Prize. Andrew and I are proud to be developing such a beautiful show with the good people at Piano Sano, and hope to see it on screens soon.

The Marsupilamis are going global on Nickelodeon while working wonders for Gulli in France. Andrew and Ciaran are super proud to have been involved as head writers with a wonderful team in the UK and France. Watch it wherever you get your streams!

Magicampers tumble onto Disney!

Miffy and Friends on Canal+
We’re delighted to share that Miffy and Friends is premiering on Canal+. We were proud to write five scripts for this much-loved series, bringing new stories to a true children’s classic. It’s been a joy working on a show with such warmth, charm and heritage, and we’re excited that Miffy and Friends will also be coming to Sky in the UK later this year. A lovely journey for a very special bunny.

Toad the Movie at Berlinale
We’re thrilled to share that the script for Toad the Movie will be showcased at the Berlinale Festival on Friday. One of the world’s most prestigious and influential film festivals, the Berlinale is an incredible platform for new work. Written by Ciaran Murtagh and Andrew Barnett Jones, the project heads to Berlin with huge congratulations and good luck to Wild Child Studios and Ho Ho Entertainment.
